It's official. Bollywood Diva Deepika Padukone would pair with Tamil Superstar Rajnikanth for his forthcoming period film 'Kochadaiyan'.

Deepika Padukone, who was initially slated to act in Rajnikanth's 'Rana', has now been roped in for 'Kochadaiyan'. This was confirmed by his daughter Soundarya Rajnikanth, who is a popular producer and director. In her microblog, Soundarya Rajnikanth said ''Guys. Many names had been doing the rounds including Bollywood Actors Katrina Kaif and Vidya Balan and Southern Sensation Anushka. ''But it has been finally decided that Deepika Padukone will play the lead role in Kochadaiyaan'', sources said. The first look of the movie was released a couple of days ago with Rajnikanth sporting long hair and performing martial arts. It has raised both anxiety and curiosity among his fans.
Deepika Padukone was initially slated to act in Rana. But it was temporarily shelved after the Muhurat of the Film in April last year due to Rajnikanth's ill-health that led to his treatment in Singapore. Sources close to the actor said, 'Rana' was not shelved and the shooting would resume after completion of 'Kocahaiyan.' 'Kochadaiyan' will be shot using Motion Capture Technology in 3D format.
Sarathkumar, Nasser, Aadhi, Sneha were among others who would be part of the film the music for which would be scored by Maestro AR Rahman. KS Ravikumar has written the story, Screenplay, Dialogue and is doing the Direction Supervision for 'Kochadaiyan. The film is being directed by Soundarya Rajnikanth. The film is produced by Eros International and Media one Global Entertainment Limited. The work is progressing in a fast pace and is scheduled for release in August 2012. After the release of 'Kochadaiyan,' Rajnikanth would act in 'Rana'.
