On surprising everybody with his composition for the English drama London Dreams, he was admired by Danny Boyle, director of Slum dog Millionaire. After composing music for this film, now he has becomes one of the renowned music directors in the world.
With a own house and a studio in London, even though he is showering his music talent and exposing the art talent of the tamilian’s across the world, he never forgets his mother land. Even though he is loaded with offers from Hollywood, he never forgets to compose music for at least a few films in Tamil and Hindi in the midst of all these. Ajith - Kanika starrer superhit movie “Varalaru”, directed by KS Ravikumar was now remade in Kannada as “Godfather” and was released on 27th July and has become a super duper hit. This film in which Upendra is acting in 3 roles is that film for which AR Rahman has composed the music. Kannada heroine Jayamala’s daughter Soundarya is the lead pair for Upendra and the famous south star Simran is playing the role of Upendra’s mom. All the five songs that was composed by AR Rahman for this movie is now being celebrated by the entire people of Karnataka! AR Rahman, who was busy last week in composing music for this film Godfather, on its completion, has now started the work of composing the background score for the much awaited movie “Kochadaiyan”.
In tamil, apart from Kochadaiyan, he has also accepted to compose music for a few films like ”Mariyaan” directed by Bharathbala and Gautam Menon’s “Yohan - Athyayam Onru. Meanwhile, he has also composed and scored music for a song in Vikram starrer “I” directed by Shankar and has also done the complete recording for it as well.
On the other hand, after the hindi movie Rockstar, he has also accepted to compose music for a film which is yet to be titled and is directed by Yash Chopra. Apart from all these, he also has a plan to do an album that will portray the greatness of Tamilian’s through the video of this album that will be based on “Purananooru”, a famous tamil poem that speaks about the braveness and the fighting spirit of Tamil people over generations.
