Taapsee came out with a statement on Tuesday, refuting reports in a section of the media, which linked her with the ‘fight’ between Kollywood actor Mahath and Tollywood actor Manchu Manoj.
‘First of all I was in Kurnool for my work when the whole incident took place so I was practically nowhere near the incident. The allegation on me is totally false. I know Mohan Babu uncle, Lakshmi, Vishnu and Manoj from the day I have entered the industry and they are a very important reason behind me being where I am today,’ she said.
‘They have treated n protected me like a family member from day 1 till date n I can never be enough thankful for that. Mohan babu uncle always treated me like his daughter and I’m a like a small sister for lakshmi,manoj and vishnu! So its only cheap of anyone to link me up with manoj and get publicity out of it,’ Tapsee said.
‘They have protected me from people who hav tried to misuse my name. And its so sad n annoying to see someone dragging my name to make it a big issue and get noticed. I always prefer keeping myself dignified by not blaming or pointing at anyone for anything and its unfair of anyone to drag my name and get publicity out of it. I’m in no relationship with anyone n manoj is like my brother,’ she added.
The actress, who is sharing the screen space with Manoj in upcoming film Marandhen Mannithen added: ‘I kept quiet all the time before this when I was blamed but now its crossing the limits of decency, no one has the right to drag n put me in bad light for their own cheap and selfish reasons. I have nothing to do with mahat. And I just feel bad bout the incidents that happened and sad that its blown out of proportion. Its my kind and humble request to please let me work peacefully and not drag my name into it. Whoever is taking my name doesn’t have anything to lose but I have a reputation which I have build for myself by working hard and I want that to be respected.’
‘I hope my statement is respected. Its the character of a girl in question and its sad to see someone trying to spoil it for cheap reasons,’ she concluded.
We are friends: Mahath & Manoj
Mahath and Manchu Manoj, who were in the news for their alleged fight after a party, have said they remain good friends.
In a statement on Tuesday, Mahath said, ‘I wish to inform all the press and friends that the misunderstanding that had happened between me and Mr. Manoj Manchu has been solved amicably. Mr. Manoj Manchu and we go long back in time as good friends. I am glad that the issue has been resolved and we continue to be good friends. I would like to thank the press for their extended support; it means a lot!’
In his statement, Manoj Manchu said, ‘Unfortunately, I have come to hear of some rumours being spread around about our so called “fight”, both in the media as well as in the social circles, which is causing deep hurt to both of us. In fact, Mahath is hurt reading these reports and I have to apologize for the agony caused. We continue to be very good friends. We also wish this clear the air.’
Mahath’s charge against Manoj
Mahath has filed a police complaint, alleging that he was assaulted by Telugu actor Manchu Manoj and his friends Saturday night.
Also, the Mankatha fame actor has issued a statement to the media.
‘I was invited to a party after the Filmfare Awards which happened on 7th, Saturday, in Chennai. I was at this party with several others from the film fraternity. I was called by a friend of mine to have a personal chat away from the crowd,’ he said.
‘While I was having this conversation with my friend, Mr. Manoj Manchu, who is an actor from the Telugu film industry, along with his 3 other friends interrupted my private conversation with my friend and started hitting me without even telling me what the issue was about. I was assaulted by these men for several minutes — I was hit on my face, my stomach and my lower body. I had even received a blow to my throat. Nobody else was even allowed to interfere and stop this fight as the men who were hitting me along with Mr. Manoj was threatening who ever tried to stop them from hitting me,’ he said.
‘As onlookers gathered and kept interfering, this gang stopped to hit me further. I was threatened after getting hit by Mr. Manoj saying that my death was in his hands and that he would go to any extent to use his influence to have me killed. He, in fact, used one of his gang members phone and called someone and instructed them to have me killed at any cost and that he would take care of any issues that followed,’ Mahath added.
‘I was in complete shock and was insulted by them in the most abusive language. This incident happened around 4 am in the morning of 8th July. After I was assaulted, I had called one of my friends who came to pick me from the spot and I was taken to a hospital. I was treated for a swollen eye, severe pain to my right jaw. The doctors in emergency ward had told me that I was lucky to survive the blow to my throat as it would have easily dislocated my jaw,’ he said.
The actor concluded: ‘It took me seven hours to be treated in the hospital. I am asked to be under treatment for the next five days. I am still in mental shock and fear for my life as he had even made an attempt to inform people to have me killed. I am worried for my life. After I was treated in the hospital, I lodged a complaint with the police department for the assault and have continued to file an FIR for the same. I am still fearing for my life as he is very influential.’
