Actress Priyanka got married to her long-time lover and director Lawrence Ram on Wednesday (23rd May). The pretty-looking Priyanka debuted as an actress in the Vasanthabalan-directed Veyil which also had Bharath and Pasupathy in lead roles and won critical acclaim from the media. Priyanka paired up opposite Pasupathy in the film and also featured in the hugely popular Urugudhae…. song.
She then went on to star in many Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam films. Though she wasn’t able to make it big in Tamil films, she won the ‘best actress’ award from the Govt. of Kerala for her character in the Malayalam film Vilabangalukku Appuram. In between her professional commitments, she had time enough to fall in love with Lawrence Ram, a director.
The couple has been in love for the past couple of years. The parents of both Priyanka and Ram opposed the marriage tooth and nail at the beginning and then relented and gave the nod for the marriage. The marriage was formally solemnized as per Hindu rituals at the famous Aatrukkaal Bagavathy Amman Temple at Thiruvananthapuram. Only the parents of the couple and their few close relatives took part in the marriage.
A happy Priyanka said after her marriage: “At last, I have married a person whom I love and who is so close to my heart. He hasn’t said ‘no’ to my wish to continue to star in films even after marriage. I shall, however, pick and choose my roles in films from now onwards. At present, I have two Malayalam films on floors in various stages of production.”
