To add colour to this Margazhi, BIG FM along with Yokibu conducted a Kolam Contest on the theme ‘music’ for school children in Chennai. Children and their parents from 12 schools participated in the event and came out with stunning kolams.
The Kolam competition saw participation of students from 6th standard to 9th standard. The specialty of the event was that the parents of the children also participated in the contest. First and second prizes were given to the best entries in each school and five consolations prizes were also given at each venue. In the grand finals, two best entries from among the schools will be selected and prizes will be given.
The prize distribution ceremony held on Jan 12th at the BIG FM Studios, in which television personality Brinda Das will give away the prizes. A rolling trophy given to the school which gets the first prize in the kolam. The first three winners of the finals were provided with an opportunity to be part of BIG FM programs.
Sindhu Vijayakumar, Radio Operations Head, 92.7 BIG FM says, “It is believed that Kolams are not just for decoration, but they also bring prosperity, harmony and positive energy into a family. Time may have changed but our tradition won’t change. We are happy that we are able to encourage this kind of traditional activities which is part of our culture.”
