Paperless systems now available at registrar offices


The paperless online registrations system has been implemented by the State Registration Department. This system allows registering properties at all its sub-registrar offices in Tamil Nadu.

Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami inaugurated the Simplified and Transparent Administration of Registration, or STAR 2.0, at an event held in state secretariat. The Chief Minister also rolled out refurbished website

Speaking about this, an official said, Although the facility had been already implemented on a pilot basis at all of the 575 sub-registrar offices, the official rollout has been made only after the elaborate training to officials, public and document writers. With the online facility, the public can create documents using the Internet and can check the precision of the created documents by sending to the sub-registrar offices through the Internet. On any given day, roughly 8,000 documents are being registered in the state. On auspicious days, the count would go up to 10,000.

An official statement released by the state government said, The public can book their appointment to register their documents and can save time. To curb forgeries, the new facility will send SMS to the original owner of the property while registering the document. The veracity of the documents will be checked by bio-metric devices.
